About the University of Florence

The University of Florence (UniFI) founded in 1924 represents one of the largest and most productive public academic/research institutions in Italy. The medical faculty is strictly connected to the University Hospital of Careggi. Within the hospital, the Andrology Unit serves as the regional referral centre for male oncofertility and sperm cryopreservation. It is also a training center in Andrology accredited by the European Academy of Andrology. Members of the PredictAYA team at UniFI have a long-standing track record in translational research, with a primary focus on the genetics of male infertility and on the long-term impact of oncological treatments on testicular reproductive and endocrine function.

Contribution to PredictAYA

The UniFI group leads the Work Package (WP) 5, aiming at understanding and predicting the late effects of cancer therapies on fertility and testicular function in male AYA survivors. It is also involved in WP3 and WP6-8.
